Globes are very common jars in aqua and amber. There are rare cases
of colors other than amber or aqua but most of these appear to be flukes
rather than intentional efforts. This jar is what is referred to as
the "black glass" globe. In my opinion that is a real stretch.
It's very deep amber at the top and medium amber at the bottom. In any
event, Globes are generally a sort of orangish amber more on the lighter
side than the darker so this one is super deep for a globe. There are
also globes in various shades of greenish amber and clear. The odd
colors bring substantial prices. Globes also come in a half pint size
and even 1/4 pt sizes but these are only known through a few examples which
bring prices exceeding $10,000.
