My understanding is that there are only three of these and like so many
of these stories, were brought in by some guy to a show where they caused a
huge stir.
This is the only olive amber black pint that I think is known.
There is a black Hartell's pint but it is a deep purple.
I'm actually getting an interesting "subcollection" of straight sided
mason pints. We call these "straight sided" pints to distinguish them
from midgets which have softly rounded sides. The straight sided pints
are by far more common in general than the corresponding midgets. One
question I can't answer is why the
Crowleytown pint which has perfectly straight sides is called a
"midget". I guess if you define a "midget" as looking like the parent
"quart", then the crowleytown does qualify under those terms.
