Greg Spurgeon owned this for a long time and I liked it very much since I was specializing in cobalts.  I could never get Greg to sell it to me but eventually he wanted a jar of mine bad enough to do business and I finally ended up with my prize.  It was a good all round because Greg was really looking for what I had.

Anyway, this is another extremely rare jar.  I think there is another but it's damaged.  Hemingray is a very popular glass manufacturer and their items are sought out by collectors of both jars (of which they made many) and also collectors of insulators where Hemingray was very big as a manufacturer.

These jars are rare but not impossible to find in aqua.  They are certainly very early.  They are a type of wax sealer.  Later wax sealers had a groove ring placed upon the neck, but these very early versions just had the shoulder pressed down to create a channel for the wax.
