This is either the back or the front of this jar.  Both sides seem equally important to the jar.  I am hereby declaring that from my point of view, this is the front of the jar and its name is the "National Preserve Can".  A picture of what I call the back is here.

In my opinion, this jar doesn't get enough credit.  I think its almost ast cool as the Ladies Favorite.  It's got really cool figurals and while not quite as cool as the Lady, they're on both sides of the jar.  The closure is really cool - arguably more interesting than the more common Willoughby's stopple on the Ladies Favorite.  It's really crude, really rare and all in all, a really great jar.  As you can see, it's got a USA shield on the front (at least what I call the front) which should be appealing to a lot of folks.  On the back it has "Earle's Patent" along with a date and a figural anchor.

If that isn't cool, I don't know what is.  Ironically, I think the rarity of this jar contributes to the (relatively) low esteem it holds.  I think there are more Ladies Favorites which means more people have drooled over Ladies Favorites than over the National Preserve Can and consequently, made that jar more expensive than this one - because its more common!  I can't claim to have done extensive economic studies on the matter, but that's my take on it.
