The Ramsay Jar comes in a slightly more expensive variant, "Dr. Ramsay's Jar" which, sadly, I don't possess.   This jar is special for many different reasons.  First is the series of panels on the side with one letter per panel.  Secondly is the closure which is totally unique so far as I know.  The mouth of the jar is not round but slightly elliptical.  The lid has an elliptical "cam" which hangs below it.  When you put the lid on, you fit the eam inside the elliptical lip and turn.  As you turn, the wide part of the cam passes under the narrow part of the lip and due to slant on the cam, pulls the lid down against the lip, sealing it.  It has a surprisingly nice feel.  I'm guessing that either the cam or, more likely, the lip were prone to breakage with this method and that's why it went out of style.
